From humble beginnings in a small town in Indiana, Brayton Mendenhall has achieved at every level of his performing and teaching career. Being named 2021 Ben Davis HS<\/a> (IN) Teacher of the Year and a finalist for 2022 Indiana Teacher of the Year<\/a> has given him validation that he is doing the right work. Mendenhall has been teaching French for 10 years, nine of which have been at Ben Davis.<\/p>\n

Mendenhall is in the world language department teaching French 3 Honors, AP French 4 and French 5 Honors. He has also been a color guard instructor for 20 years, the last three at Zionsville Community HS<\/a> (IN). Being a full-time classroom teacher and an instructor requires a good amount of time. \u201cI find that my life is consumed with teaching and directing, but those are the things I truly enjoy doing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201dI don’t know that I have much of a work\/life balance since I dedicate so much of my time to work however, I don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing since teaching is what I love.\u201d <\/p>\n
