Two high school bands recently experienced Ireland through performance, education and cultural exchange, highlighting the value of international travel for student musicians.<\/p>\n

In March, the South Jones Band of Braves from Mississippi and the Pendleton Heights Marching Arabians from Indiana, joined by students from Frankton-Lapel HS, traveled to Ireland with Music Travel Consultants<\/a>. Their itinerary culminated in participation in the St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade<\/a> in Dublin, one of the country\u2019s most visible cultural celebrations.<\/p>\n

Walking Through History<\/h3>\n

Ireland offers a highly accessible way for students to experience history firsthand. Both groups began their journey with guided exploration of key landmarks, including Bunratty Castle and the Cliffs of Moher. These sites provided beautiful representations of Ireland\u2019s medieval past and natural geography.<\/p>\n

Students also traveled to Belfast, where they visited the Titanic Belfast. The experience connected historical events to modern storytelling through interactive exhibits.<\/p>\n

The South Jones Band expanded its itinerary with a visit to Caherconnell Stone Fort Farm, where students observed traditional sheepdog herding. This stop reinforced the connection between Ireland\u2019s rural heritage and contemporary life.<\/p>\n

Dublin served as a central hub for both groups. A panoramic city tour introduced students to Ireland\u2019s political, cultural and literary heritage.<\/p>\n

At EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, Pendleton Heights students explored the global impact of Irish emigration. Interactive exhibits helped students understand migration patterns and the influence of Irish communities worldwide.<\/p>\n
