Berry Band Enjoys Workshop at Universal Studios
The Logansport HS (IN) Berry Band made a 4-day trip to Orlando to visit parks and participate in the STARS Program Workshop. Read below as MTC Trip Journalist Emily Gellinger takes us through the Berry Band’s adventures.
The day slowly crept by on Friday, all the travelers anticipating the end of the day and the beginning of fall break. After pushing through the first quarter of the school year and dealing with COVID-19, everyone was prepared for a well-deserved trip. After a year of delays, a lot of anticipation and changing the trip location, the band hit the road, heading for Orlando, Fla to spend two days at Universal Studios and two days at Disney World. One 16-hour-long bus ride later, we had finally arrived.
Our first day in Orlando was spent in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The band was eagerly waiting to get there, but we first had to take a pit stop at the HUB. Everyone ate breakfast and changed into new clothes after the overnight bus ride. After that, it was time to hit the park.
After scanning all our tickets and going through security, we were set loose in the park, ready to ride Rock n’ Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror and to explore the newest addition of Hollywood Studios, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
On our second day in Orlando, we went to Universal Studios. The day was spent exploring the two parks, everyone making sure to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and ride the roller coasters throughout the park, Velocicoaster being a favorite of many band members.
On the third day of the trip, we returned to Universal Studios and spent the morning in the STARS workshop with the instructors from the Universal Youth Program. We played a song from the movie Trolls and the students participated in making and choosing the sound effects and the voice acting. The rest of the day was spent exploring the parks and riding rides. After returning to the hotel, some band members used their free time to enjoy the hotel swimming pool.
On our fourth and final day in Orlando, the band returned to Disney World, this time going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Expedition Everest and Pandora – The World of Avatar intrigued the band the most, so a lot of people spent their time there. At the end of our trip, everyone grouped together outside of the Rainforest Cafe and we returned to the bus for our overnight trip home.
The band would like to thank our families, the band directors, the Music Boosters, our STARS workshop producers, Music Travel Consultants and everyone else who helped make this trip a reality.
