In the last quarter of the 16th century the melodrama was born in Florence as a result of the efforts of a group of musicians and literaries called “Camerata Dell Bardi”. Florence is furthermore the birth place of the piano, which was built by Bartolomeo Cristofori at the end of the 17th century for the great Medici family. Out of this musical heritage and rich tradition, the idea was born to create a festival that gives young musical talents the opportunity to perform in places of immense historical importance and architectural beauty.
