Student Nomination Form

There are many things that bring people to the heart of Indiana every year, but there is one event that encompasses all others. Indianapolis is best known for annually hosting the world's largest single-day sporting event, the Indianapolis 500. Known as the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, this tradition has taken place for over 100 years. And on the eve of this time-honored occasion, things are kicked off with the IPL 500 Festival Parade. Bands get the privilege of performing in front of over 300,000 spectators that line the parade route in the streets of Indianapolis, joined by another one million watching from their televisions around the country. The parade is broadcasted locally on WTHR, Channel 13 and nationally on NBC Sports Network.

One of the main attractions for the 500 Festival Parade is the NBA Indiana All-Star Marching Band, which was organized in 1998 and is composed of representatives from some of the finest high school bands throughout the state of Indiana. The band is organized specifically to perform in the 500 Festival Parade and has maintained this tradition since 1998. Band members of any Indiana High School are eligible to be considered for membership once nominated by their high school band director.

All members wear the uniform of their respective high school bands. Each member must pay a registration fee with two options available: Resident Registration is $195 and includes overnight housing, Friday dinner and evening party, Saturday breakfast and snack, transportation to and from the parade and other operational costs. Commuter Registration (includes same as resident except no overnight housing) is $100 and is available to members who live within a reasonable distance to commute and have parental consent. All housing, dining and rehearsal accommodations will be at Butler University.

Nominees must be wind players or flags. If your students have commencement or final exam conflicts on Friday, May 22, contact Mickey Stisher at mickey.stisher@musictravel.com and special arrangements will be made.
